1)It is necessary to register a child before they can attend OIS. Parents or companies planning to bring children to Okpo should contact the Administration Officer to obtain up-to-date information about the availability of places.

2) An application form should be completed for each child and returned directly to school 60 days before the child is to start at OIS.

3) Academic records from the child's present school, a photocopy of the child's international passport and any explanation of illnesses, special needs or disciplinary procedures must be attached to the application before a child can be considered for admission to OIS.

It is only lawful for the following categories to enter the school:

A. Non-Korean pupils.
B. Korean pupils in possession of Non-Korean passports, Non-Korean immigration status or who have been
legally adopted by a non-Korean.
C. Korean pupils who have been educated overseas for 3 years.

The principles employed in the formation of classes are set down below:

1. Multi level classes have to be formed where there are too many children for a straight class.
2. If at all possible, multi level class numbers will be kept smaller than those of straight classes.
3. When classes are grouped, care will be taken to ensure the children mix socially.
4. Space needs to be kept in each class for new arrivals and to allow some flexibility.

Further observations on class formation are that:

1. There is a wide spread of abilities in both straight and multi level classes.
2. Syllabus integration is common today - children no longer pass out of a straight year or grade group into
the next.
3. Parent requests to change children from their designated classes should be held in abeyance for at least
3 weeks after the beginning of terms 1 and 3.

All pupils will be interviewed by the Principal before entering the school to assess physical and emotional maturity.
All pupils will be tested in Mathematics and English during their first week at the school to allow us to place them into the correct Math or English group.
The school will not retain pupils who are not benefiting from our programme.
